Ship "Size" to Speed Curve
I would propose that a re-examination of the basic ship class to design spec speed curve be considered for Jumpgate Evolution.
This serves the points of: Immersion - Just seems obvious that the razor thin frontal area of most light and medium fighters are going to allow them to be not only faster but more agile (both mass and drag impact consideration) than a heavy fighter/bomber/cargo ship. Inclusion of Lower Levels in Fleet Activities - It is a double blow to join your squadmates as a lower level pilot as they head off to battle in not only an undergunned paper thin armored ship, but one that forces the fleet to slow down to allow you to remain in formation and under the protection of the fleet. Allowing the LF and MF to be as fast if not faster than any of the heavies allows them to remain tight with the group. They are unlikely to range ahead of a battle fleet too far lest they be on their own against the entire enemy fleet, but to be slow and feeling useless simply isn't that fun. Fleet Makeup Variety - Allows the LF and MF to not be discarded immediately upon gaining access to higher "level" craft. Allows the makeup of a battle fleet to have some variety as the craft serve different roles. Note that specialty craft (scouts/rangers etc) fall as outside the general scope of this posting and philosophy. |

![]() Fair enough in regards to their survivability, I would just like to see the "curve" inverted such that bigger = slower. (I got back behind the controls this weekend....I totally suck worse than I ever did LMAO) |
