Should Jumpgate Evolution have difficulty settings?
I personally think it should. I think they should have a special difficulty setting called Ambro mode, where your guns won't fire at all and AI pirates are sent in your direction every time you launch to you can get the thrill of space being dangerous.

That sounds like a win button for the AI!

Re: Should Jumpgate Evolution have difficulty settings?
I believe it should, because new players dont have to experience as older players, so a dificulty setting would alow them room to learn while they get the hang of things. I understand it could be abused by experienced people running in low dificulty zones, but that could be fixed by nerfing weapons on experienced people in "learning" zones to stop civ killing and noob hunting.

Re: Should Jumpgate Evolution have difficulty settings?
One thing I enjoyed of the original Xwing is that there werent skill settings, either you had what it takes to make it or you didnt. I know we want to make the game accesible to more folks, but the moment the flight engine has 2 modes... and a battle ensues... who would/should win? the one using the easiest form... or the one thats using the 'advanced' form?
I would suggest tying that capability to some low level ships, so that folks can learn the game, but when you level up you should be sent to the advanced flight system. Think like... getting into Nascar for example. Many US folks drive auto transmissions, but if you were to race in Nascar... no race car that I know has auto transmission. Some advanced cars have sequential paddles that make shifting easier or faster, but you still have to deal with a clutch. You can learn using auto transmission, but eventually you have to deal with a clutch and a stick. This is what I mean for Jumpgate, an easy flight engine to learn the ropes, but not have both modes for the higher level ships. ELP |

Re: Should Jumpgate Evolution have difficulty settings?
Maybe, rather than changing the actual flight model, just have a noob craft that has 'automatic counter balancers' or some such thing. Crummy (or even no) weapons, decent shields, but phenominal handling. Once the basics of flight is understood, then we could move into a more demanding ship. Which would be the natural progression, because who wants to fly around in a clearly underpowered ship?
In this way, new pilots could get a more gentle introduction to jumpgate, but we wouldn't have to be changing any rules. ? |

I'd hate to see Jumpgate Evolution made more simple that Jumpgate Classic. Hell if I could learn to pilot a space ship ANYBODY could.

Re: Should Jumpgate Evolution have difficulty settings?
OOOOOO, the smell of testosterone is sickening....lol anyways, we all said this before. Pvpers want a tough game where they have the advantage, pvers want a game where the skills they have find enemys equal to them, but never better.lol its funny, because none of us are going to lose a dime if this new game ends up with the same old crew on it a year from now, but the company will., and you can be sure Jumpgate Evolution will either have to change somewhere to let more people come in and have fun. Or it will be the bottom of the charts on game sights with failed player scores just like Jumpgate Classic. I think the company really isnt insane, I think they want to make their money back, and a few hundred radical players is nice, but it doesnt pay the bills. So either we make it a tad easier, or we all find something else to do when the company gets mad and slamms the doors for good.
