Simulator Ideas

Well I did a search and didn't see anything for ideas for the new simulator.

I know that it was said the Sim would be more than it is now, so lets build on that

1) A flux simulator with ANY flux, in ANY amount. so /ai1-XX (whatever the top flux number is) instead of just 1-5. This is one reason I don't want to go fight big flux, because I can't practice against them.

2) A PvP area that is invite only. Say 2 people want to fight alone, then make an instance for them.

3) A squad level version of 2. Each squad can have their own sim for whatever they want.

4) More variations of the ring course type sim. Progressively harder and harder courses.

5) A Race Track. No I'm not kidding.... Think about Airplane racing, and make it possible in space. If possible build in a "Lap Timer"

Thats all I got for now, I'll try to think of more.

Re: Simulator Ideas

In the squad sim, make it possible for people of sufficient squad rank to spawn items/things to practice different scenarios

Re: Simulator Ideas

On #2, with a twist, ala QUake2 Rocket Arena. People join the sim and they are put on a roster/waiting list. Its alway a duel, the winning pilot remains in the arena the loser is sent to the end of the 'longest line' (lol nascar term).

Then have a pass thru RRR so that the winner can RRR and soon as winner does RRR then next challenger launches. If the winner docks with the station (as in leaving) then next 2 folks inline get to fight each other.

I never played Rocket Arena, but in concept it was awesome.

Re: Simulator Ideas

Good idea ELP. I like the option for more structured dueling.

Re: Simulator Ideas

#1. allow others into the flux sim by invitation only. That way someone who already KNOWS how to swat a C35700 can show you how it's done. You don't have to figure it all out for yourself.

As I mentioned on another thread, the ability to record a sim session from multiple angles and viewpoints and then play it back (over and over as necessary) would be nice. It's one thing to tell me what I'm doing wrong, but if you could actually SHOW me or I could play it back and see for myself, then that would be 1000 times better IMO.

Then again, if you could record off the sim session, you could post it and show others what a neat game it is.

Re: Simulator Ideas

Well, not so sure about a flux sim when we know that the AI is going to be pretty different and very 'intelligent'. Id wait first to see what kind of flux AI is on the cards and grow from there.

If flux (even on same level) are going to have different behaviours... a conflux sim will be worth nothing since you wont know which kind of AI you would be encountering.

Re: Simulator Ideas

well, the different types of flux could actually have different ai, rather than the ai beign exactly the same, performing the same maneuvers with the only difference being the stats of the 'ships'. It's already been stated that the ai at least varies it's behaviour in some way. I'm just not sure how much of it is based on type, and how much is that there is just variation, but they all access the same section of ai.

Re: Simulator Ideas

I've always been against high lvl flux in the sim. Killing high level flux is a mark of skill, and learning how to do it is a rite of passage. I honestly think the game would be less with high lvl flux without risk.
