Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
![]() Just kidding, I think i'm starting to get the feeling that multiple person ships are wanted, and having a defense person on a turret could probably be fun for a lot of people. It should be very interesting indeed. However, if by any reason you mean AI driven turrets.... ![]() ![]() |

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
If they give them turrets, more Tows will die!
I really dont care if you have turrets or not.. When Im a pirate in Jumpgate Evolution the only thing thats going to protect you from pirates blasting your tow is if we get our goods and fly away. If you somehow manage to kill a pirate with a turret, next time he wont care about the goods and will just kill you. |

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
I think Scorch wants turrets.
I agree with him. I just don't know what they should be, yet. There are a number of things they could be... 2-player ships (pilot and gunner), 1-player ships with an AI turret, capitol ships with multiple turrets, building defense. Should they be limited to PvP type ships? Should they be limited to PvE-type ships? Should they be limited to capitol ships? What boundaries can you see that can be used to balance them - turn rates, gunsizes, location, etc.? Oh and Grimgriz, go and dance around the house with joy for a few days, or something. You've actually put me off turrets in the past, by being so centered on them. |

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
Every time you give a tow a turret, God kills a kitten. Please, think of the kittens.
Actually, I think it would be quite cool to see turrets accessible. Just to mix it up for the pilots. I'd especially like it if it's not like EVE, where you only get to jump in a turret if you have access to t3h uber dethshipz. Low level ships with turrets could give players a fun low-key way to play. Just so long as the ships aren't dependent of having two players to be functional...otherwise that could hamper people who want to solo when others want to do other things. |

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
Ok, how about this... the player ship..(a tow or miner for inscance) has a single turrett for defence. He's mining away and a flux or two attacks him. He doesnt have much chance to run, he's too far from the gate and too heavy. So he calls up turret control and jumps in. Boom he controls the turret himself while the mining goes on. Like sitting at a asteroid mining while sitting in front of the turret controls saying.."here, flux,flux,flux..." as far as pirates go..the only way to be safe from them is kill them enough to be unprofitable to bother, maybe turrets and excorts together and they'll hunt weaker prey..lol.

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
@Chaser: I havent got much sleep so forgive me if Im inacurate and odd sounding
If a miner has a turret for defense and nobody is controlling it, instad of having to call a thing he could just change seats ala Flashpoint, where you would basically do a right click and a small menu appears. When in a tank you basically can.. change to driver's seat, change to commander's seat, (and if ur on one of these) change to gunner seat.ELP |

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
Ya, I meant change from watching the mining beam to being in control of the turret. That way you could have an option of hiring an AI to run it or jump in to control it yourself when your attacked, just a click and move from turret to ship controls.

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
Problem with the turret....
You wont have a big view. If its on the belly you can't fire at things that are up top. So dont think that you will be getting much, helps, but is not like u will be able to kill the new-which-I-guess-not-so-dumb-AI, as in the past. A pirate attacking a miner, even if it has a turret... still has better chances. So, as much as I like the idea, I kind of prefer the suggestions I made on either special ships switching to turret role or via logistic ships. ELP |

Re: Slow turn rate ships should have turrets
ya, your right, the turrets would have limited view of attack, and against pirates very little help. Thats becuase pirates think and change instantly, the game isnt ready for that yet. As a pirate (I'm guessing) you know how important quick thinking is. The turret idea was for emergencys against flux to maybe save a ship or help it get away. No big deal, but something better than nothing.
