This idea is to address the 'empty space' issue, aswell as adding a valuable tool for the community.

Every sector has a space bulletin board. Pilots can pay for rotating advertisements and announcements on the BBS. Higher traffic sectors might cost more for advertisements. You could advertise equipment/arties sold at your faction station store (or POS i suppose, sigh), announce player-issued bounties on people, request equipment from haulers to a certain location, etc etc etc..

How to issue an advertisement.

1) Log onto the JOSSH website (whatever it will be) and head to the space advertisement department.
2) Select the sector you want your advertisement to rotate w/ other peoples advertisements.
3) Upload the jpeg or gif image you created for your advertisement.
4) Pay the credit amount which is deducted from your character, OR, pay the small dollar amount which is taken from your subscription info.
5) Every day, a GM will review the new submissions to ensure they dont violate any rules of the TOS, and if all is OK, the advertisement will be added to the game's rotating banner code for that sector.

Umm, this is not for real life advertisements, this is for in-game specific stuff. Things the players create. I dont see why you'd be against it. If you think for a second a real space-based civilization wouldn't utilize advertisement banners on popular space lanes you're crazy. =)

Hey, it's ok, wish for everything you like. I'm just saying, I don't want it. Keep space pure. Next there will be meters on all the parking spots and we'll have to buy a hunting license to kill flux.

this isn't just for cosmetic crap though. this would be a very useful tool for the community. For store owners, bounty hunters, bringing peoples attention to third party tools and sites such as this one, squad recruitment, etc etc.

Well, Jump from a RP standpoint, it would make sense that the sols had them at least at their space

What I dont like about the idea... basically is that its on EVE, as I remember, near the gates, they looked pretty neat, animated and everything, but it would like copying their ideas and bringing them to Jumpgate.

What I would suggest instead, is do as something in-station, that anyone can setup. The other option Id like would be as a mod for your POS, it would use a slot but it would have a big screen viewable for passing-by folks, that way anyone can, not only advertise their products and ore but also rent it for advertisement of others (the owner would do the administration).

That kills the idea right there. Asking anyone to sort through a list of banners would be an ongoing expense that would be prohibitive.

If they cant spare one GM or Empowered Player to take 10mins out of their day to click 'ALLOW' or 'DECLINE' on a series of images uploaded via a script to their webserver, then we are in a lot of trouble.
