I love this idea. I feel that a pirate should be able to retrieve the loot/cargo after the rights limit has expired is a good idea too. Alternatively, Unreg stations (we dont know yet if we'll have them at Jumpgate Evolution) could also create Retrieve missions that would be available to only pirate tagged ships, and to make it sorta simpler, the mission would ask for retrieval of junk/look at a specific sector that has been flagged as a death has ocurred there.

Sectors with more deaths would show first on the recover list, though Id suppose that it would be nice if their levels are based on space region and danger.

Also, the mission would not tell you where the junk/look is at, contrary to the owners right slip, so the pirate would be force to look around and 'test' if this junk over here is retrievable or not. Junk could be shown as "Junk: Unknown contents" and when the junk is scanned return a "Retrieval riights hasnt expired yet" or "Retrieval possible". Ideally this identifier would remain while cycling targets, so that you dont return to same junk after scanning/verifying 3 or 4 other junks, of course, ability tied to the pirate tags.

I like that this wouldnt encourage player killing but would encourage being online to know where fights happen the most so you're always a step closer than other Scavengers around.

Re: Space wreckage/salvage suggestion

With these restrictions on "salvage" my own objections are lowered to a degree. I'd like to see a further restriction such as the junk would move out of the direct flight path (vector & velocity imparted by the explosive demise of the cargo ship) and with time the "junk" would move further and further out of the flight path. I splashed on my first "arty" and have bad memories of the experience, so I want the "junk" out of the flight path within a matter of minutes.

I still think encouraging attacks on non-combat ships is a bad thing, but it's obviously popular with a large segment of this forum population. Heck, I enjoyed the feature in Elite but I was a combat pilot then. On the other hand, being an honorable junk/salvage pilot could be a valid RP for Wild_Bill.

Or make it so the cargo containers have no clipping so you fly right through them, or they bump out of the way without damaging the ship.

I think thats how eve has it set up...of coarse everything is pretty much like that since its not set up like Jumpgate is.
