While this is true in most cases, back in the day Equipment was not insured, so a well timed POD could cripple a player's money pile.

Its very rare you see someone post up that they actually liked pirates, thanks for commenting.

Re: A twist on Pirating

Net, I always admired the ability of a pirate using a burglar/insight to take cargo while I was in-flight. It was the P.O.D. muggings I objected to. Still do.

I hated getting a bounty though when I turned my insight/burglar on a pirate taking cargo from me. Should be able to "burgle" a pirate in self-defense. It was funny. I was taking cargo away from him about half as fast as he was stealing it!

Re: A twist on Pirating

I have an issue with pirates. While I like the idea of bad people out there who could attack me at any time, the problem is the options for a victim are pay, fight, or run away. Except it's almost impossible to run away and the pirate is almost invariably a better fighter, so the choices become pay or die. So not much better than a virtual mugging really.

If there was some way escaping a pirate, although not 100% successful, then I think pirating would become more fun for both pirate and victim.

I have always stated that I have never had a problem with rats, just the aholes that go on a civing spree for no reason, nut even they don’t bother me any more, haven’t read the whole post as of yet but I do hope that the pirates are catered for and not penalised in Jumpgate Evolution.

I think we all want better tools for pirating. I agree that pay or die is rly bad options to begin with. Because both options have negative consequence on the victim, not taking bounties and insurance loss in this calculation. Just thinking about the moment right there where a pirate meets the victim. Then it is utterly unfair ofcourse.

But when you look at the entire picture, pirates are the worst losers... The pirates only way to make any money is to pod. Equip is to low priced and there is no way to steal because of trap. Bounties are to high, and everyone can track you pretty easy.

Re: A twist on Pirating

Being a pirate is much more opt-in than being a victim of a pirate, though.

I don't feel quite so bad for players when they complain about the tough life that piracy is. While this may or may not be the case, it's a different and less important issue compared to the lose/lose scenario that is presented to the victims of those players.

All my civrips were justified, and I'm sticking to my story.

Yeah, after 6 years the devs suddenly said "Man, Liet really ruined our game. Let's add safe zones."

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound sometimes?

SS: Seems like anyone with an FF2 is a stone-cold PvP space-butcher.
