Rismore/Samsun/Barnard Mayor: Another dead end story thread, it seems.

Why even introduce this if it isn't going to go anywhere? I don't get it. Oh well.

So, now we know that Berl either doesn't know what the Mayor does, or the President is lying. Either outside interests know what the Mayor does better than Berl does - which seems likely, if this story makes any sense - or The President is covering up outside interests in his advisor - which he doesn't seem interested in doing.

It was a secret to all of us, obviously - just like Berl, who the President obviously means to paint as an uninformed lout who is not in the inner circle of the Directorate (Just like us.)- and is even newer to the Directorate than Araad, despite having a family seat. Now, if Berl was involved in a *popular* election, this might be of more interest - but only the Directorate votes on this position, so... meh.

 

But that begs the question - why do you need an outsider subspace (twitter) account to convince 400 people you're worthy?



Being worried about "puppets" when you're one of 400 people who rule an entire planet doesn't seem especially self-aware. But, hey. Hyp does Hyp, yo.

 

And, surprising nobody, the story trails off into a Rismore loss, by a horrific margin, which makes us wonder why it was even a thing....
