It's a couple weeks away but I figure free is a good price and DX12, etc. So I'm sure a lot of peeps will jump on it. Gamers most places I go are looking forward to it. Will it kill Jumpgate or has anyone verified it works? Does it have compatibility mode. I've seen some posts about flickering so I have concerns.

It looks like it still has compatibility mode for every version from win 95 on except for windows 2000. I'm not sure why they would have it for all version but that.

I think someone said there was some nasty flickering in station. I'm sticking with 7.

you have 1 year to upgrade to 10 for free... i suggest you let other people find the bugs first, and keep your gaming machine running something that works. :)

Win8 also has no Win2k compatibility mode. I'm betting it's because any NT/2k software out there will run in XP mode. There's no way I'd leave Win7. New software on old hardware has always been a recipe for bogging down the entire system. Plus I can't get JGRotPro to work even in Win8, so yeah. Win7.

My system is only a year old and pretty high end. It will probably speed up mine.

I have Insider Pro build 10162, got it last week but not able to get a later build like 10240 atm due to Insider build setting problems.

    I tried many things:
    compatibility troubleshooter various tests
    manual compatibility settings XP/7/admin/Color

I either had a blurry narrow screen or a correct width screen, both with flickering.

Searched on the net and came across some possible solutions:
Installed DX Runtime Web (June 2010), made no difference
Changed Vid card pto max performance

None of which made a difference.

Its looking not so good from what I think, dual boot will always be an option, but I shall certainly retest as soon as I can upgrade and compare with others hopefully.

I have been running windows 10 from the insider program. I have an older setup, with a 6850 vid card/ Jumpgate definitely flickers and I have tried every compatibility mode, every res, every setup I can think of. I have not tried the windowed mode yet, but it def flickers and is the primary reason I run windows 10 in a dual boot with windows 7. I just got pushed what I suspect is the final release, as it no longer has the developer tag on it, and I had to sign the EULA

I am talking from my Win 10 side and I wanted to confirm the latest update did not change things.

The map views just fine, stable and as you expect. All other screens on the game have a non symmetric flicker of varying intensities. Not so much that you cannot see the game, but bad enough I would not want to play.
Just to make sure it is nothing on the wind 7 side, I did a clean install for Windows 10. Still not a good thing. I strongly recommend that if you are wanting to do Windows 10, hang in there until we get some work from our Russian friends to see if they have seen it, and have some solutions for us.

They have done no testing on windows 10. I have brought this thread to their attention.

And just to be clear, setting it in any compatiblity mode screws up the graphics royally

I would be willing to use teamviewer to let them see. Also, it is not too late to become a windows insider and get Win 10 downloaded.... Its free and you can install windows 10 on a different partition and dual boot.
